Mid-Term Camps in Schull, Baltimore and France
Schull The camp will be run by David Harte and Tom Mapplebeck. The camp will concentrate on Racing Rules and their application in practice. The cost of the camp is not yet finalised, but it is expected to be in the region of Euro150 for the four days. Weather permitting, the boats will sail from Schull to Baltimore, accompanied by a safety boat, on Sunday afternoon. Please contact Tom Mapplebeck directly to book. Tom may be contacted on 0862475551 or tom@curradinghy.com
Baltimore Tom Mapplebeck, together with International coaches Ricardo De Felice (Italian National Coach) and Galen Mack (Swedish and Australian National Coach), will run the camp in Baltimore from Monday 15th to Friday 19th of February. Teams from Italy, Denmark and Sweden will be in attendance, together with a strong contingent of experienced Irish 420 sailors. New entrants to the fleet are also encouraged to attend, and, subject to numbers, a dedicated coach will be made available to them. The cost of the camp is Euro200. The cost for those who participated in the ISA Munster Coaching is reduced to Euro40, as these sailors are due four days of coaching since the Autumn term. Please contact Tom Mapplebeck directly to book. Tom may be contacted on 0862475551 or tom@curradinghy.com
France The ISA have organised coaching in Ile des Embies in France from 14th to the 21st of February. Ross Killian will be the coach, and will tow boats from Ireland. The camp is aimed at experienced sailors. The cost of coaching, accommodation, airport pick-up and boat transportation is Euro250 per sailor. Sailors are responsible for their own transportation and food. Those interested should contact Rory in the ISA for further details.
New entrants to the fleet Tom Mapplebeck is dedicating two weekends in January to encourage new entrants to the fleet. The first weekend will be held on 23rd and 24th January in RCYC. Sailors will be introduced into the boat, the settings, set up, equipment available on the market and will be advise what to and what not to buy. Basic boat handling will also be covered. Finally, over the weekend Tom will assist sailors identify whether they want to helm or crew and will try to help match helms with crews. The second weekend will be held on 30th and 31st January. During the second weekend, sailors will build on what they have learned, and the coach will concentrate on getting new sailors up to speed so that they will be competent to join the ISA Regional Training which commences on the 6th of February. Please contact Tom to sign up. Tom may be contacted on 0862475551 or tom@curradinghy.com
